Blue gray is a popular color in home decor for good reason. Blue is of course a classic color but adding gray to make a grayish blue makes for a beautiful neutral for any space wanting to add a bit of color without it being too much. Considering gray blue paint colors allows you to step away from typical neutrals like white, gray, and greige paint colors.
The trick to blue gray paint acting as a neutral is in hue of the blue and the amount of gray in the undertone. Today we'll look at the best blue gray paint colors so you can determine which is best for your home.
What Is A Gray Blue Paint Color?
Blue gray color paint is exactly what it sounds like. It's a blue color paint with gray mixed in to soften the brightness of the blue and push it more toward a neutral paint color. We call these neutral blue colors.
How To Choose Blue Gray Paint
Colors in the blue gray paint range run the gamut from gray with a hint a blue, to blue with a hint of gray. Whichever there is more of is the dominant color. The more gray, the more neutral the paint color becomes.
When looking at light blue gray paint colors you'll look first at the darkest color on the paint strip or swatch to determine the dominant color. This dark hue will make it obvious if the blue/gray color has more blue or more gray.
