The Easy Trick To Picking The Right Neutral Paint Color
There's a BIG MISTAKE you're probably making when picking neutral paint...
Which is why you pick interior paint for your home but once it’s on the wall it’s all wrong. Ugh.....
To clarify NEURTAL COLOR means light to medium colors that go well with everything.
For example, this neutral greige goes well with wood tones in this entryway…
….and in here mixed with lots of white and cool blue tones.
But what most people don’t realize is neutral colors have different color undertones…
Undertones like black, brown, blue, red, and green will majorly affect the way your color looks on the wall.
To choose the right neutral paint color for your home, you must look at the undertone.
Always look at the darkest shade on the paint swatch because it’s where the color is the most obvious....
….and it will tell you what undertones are going to show up, even in the lightest shades.
Example: Many people would grab the second color from the top as a good neutral...
But look at the darkest hue….there's lots of red in that brown and the lightest shades end up looking pink.
Here are two base colors. Both are brown but one on the left has a lot of red in it.
And the one on the right has more black in it.
These undertones will show up, even in the lightest shades of the color.
And that’s the trick to finding the perfect neutral! Look at the darkest hue first to see the undertone!
