HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT WHITE PAINT
Have you ever painted your walls white and had them look pink, yellow or even purple? So frustrating
Here you thought you couldn’t go wrong. I mean white is white, right? –Well, not really.
Every white paint color has a tiny bit of color (undertone). If you get the wrong undertone it can mean costly repainting.
Standing in the paint aisle can be overwhelming, so let’s find out how to choose your perfect white.
Start with undertone Always look at the darkest shade on the paint swatch because it’s where the color is the most obvious…
….and it will tell you what undertones are going to show up, even in the lightest shades.
Example: Many people would grab the top color as a true white
But the darkest shade shows a blue undertone which will show up on your walls.
Warm undertones of yellow or red provide a cozier feel to the room and pair well with wood and neutral colors.
Cool undertones of blue or gray give a crisp, bright and modern look.
Test a Sample. Paint a few white paint samples on each wall to see how it looks over in your space.
Natural light hits walls differently throughout the day, and lighting also affects your wall color.
For cabinets and trim. The same undertone considerations apply.
