If you have a collection of beautiful spaces that you’ve pinned on Pinterest only to wonder how you might be able to incorporate the same look in your own home, today might just be your lucky day!

I’ll admit that I am a bit obsessed with collecting images of beautiful spaces on my Pinterest boards, but recently I started taking it a step further and sourcing some of the elements in the rooms that make them look so pulled together. So today, I’m starting what I hope to be at least a monthly post that will take an inspiration photo and source similar items for you so that you too can get get the look!  That’s right, I’ll do the work for you! (You’re very welcome!)

Let’s start with this Casual and Eclectic Dining Space!

I’ve had this dining space (source) on my boards for awhile and every time I see it again in my feed I go to pin it only to realize that I had already done so. Clearly there is something about it that just draws me in.

Here’s why I love it so much. It is casual, colorful, and easy. It doesn’t look overly styled or fussy, just somewhere I’d like to have a cup of coffee with a friend or lay out all of my stuff and get to work.

DIY decorating course

The key elements in this space are the colorful rug and pillows mixed with the neutral table and chairs. Then again the walls are neutral with the same pops of color in the artwork. And of course every room needs a little something unexpected, the showstopper if you will, and that star pendant fits the bill perfectly.

So let’s see where you too can get some of these same elements to recreate this look, or add a few elements to your already existing space to get the same feel!

Get the look: Eclectic and casual dining room.

1. Star Pendant  ||  2. Colorful Artwork  || 3. Artificial Fig Tree

4. Pillows: Blue Dot Pillow, Square Embroidered Pillow, Hand Woven Pillow

5. Dining Chairs  ||  6. Natural Wood Table  ||  7. Colorful Rug

As you can see, you can get this space on a pretty tight budget, which is always my goal!

What is your favorite element in this room?

    I adore this mood board. Thanks for putting it together and sharing your analysis. It may just be spring fever but I’m totally digging on this casual type vibe. And omg, a fake fig tree?! Never thought of that. I’ve killed about FOUR now which is nearly the price of one fake one, haha. Great idea!

      I just put in my order for some fake trees. I can’t afford to kill another house plant! I’m loving the casual vibe in this room too. It is making my husband nervous since we just finished our dining room. hahaha

    Oooo, thanks for the link to the great faux fig! (I kill plants and my pets eat plants. No real plants!) A faux fig would add sooo much to a blah corner in my dining room. Happy compromise… 🙂

    I like how you pointed out the colors in the pictures match the colors in the rug and some of the other details. When you explain details like that it helps me understand why it all looks so good as a whole. i can see it looks good as a whole but I can’t always determine the why it works. I enjoy your website so much, you have an eye for what I do not and you explain it.

    Thanks for putting it together where the items can be viewed. I liked clicking to them and seeing the product.

    Great room! I love the rug and the interplay between the carpet and pillows. Thanks for the link to the etsy shop; I will check their pillows.

    I have always favored a big work surface in my creative spaces, so this table works for me too. We have a Moravian Star pendant on our outdoor porch. I don’t think it could stand alone for task lighting, but sets a great mood.

      Wow Bristol! That pendant would be so awesome on a front porch. I’m sorta envious 🙂 Have a great week!
