Do you ever have one of those weeks where you can’t even believe you made it to Friday? This has been one of those weeks for me. Not because anything went terribly wrong, but I just felt like I was barely keeping up with anything. My little mister gave up his morning nap so we are adjusting to a new schedule and the ol’ hubs went to Vegas for his yearly guys trip. Don’t worry I reminded him to be “good to his soul” before he left. Hahaha. He has such a great time catching up with old friends, but man do I miss him right around bath time!
So with all of that going on I managed to get another simple Pinterest inspired project done and did a little bit of rearranging in my very neglected master bedroom! This easy map art was inspired by this pin a long long time ago. I decided to get out some old maps that I’ve been keeping for this project and just keep this one super simple.
If you have been around for awhile you may recall that the hubs and I met in Santa Barbara 10 years ago. I gushed all about it in this post, if you would like to catch up on that story.
I thought a little reminder about where we came from and where we are now would be a perfect little personalized piece of art for our bedroom.
This was really easy and if you don’t have maps on hand just print some from Google Maps!
First gather up some maps, a frame, make a little heart template, come up with a background with the words. If you like this one and are using a 4×6 frame you can print it here.
Then decide which part of the map you want to use. I tried to include the area that we got engaged, and the area we live now on my hearts.
Then I just cut them out and taped them onto my background, added some small blue dots around the hearts, and stuck them in my frame.
Now I have a perfect little personalized piece of art for my master bedroom, which is in real need of some attention. I haven’t done much to the room since we moved in because I haven’t had the ah-ha moment of exactly which direction I want it to go. It is a really large room with a vaulted ceiling and until I got this lamp from Lamps.com we didn’t even have light on this side of the room. So because I have a new lamp and a new little piece of art work, I thought I should attempt to make at least one area of the room feel put together.
The texture of the lamp adds a bit of interest to the space and I broke up the dark furniture color with the dark color of the lamp by adding a table runner.
I really need to at least start gathering ideas for my master bedroom. I know it is sad, but I sorta feel like since no one really spends any time in there it is not a big priority. One day, I guess. Do you have a “decorated” master bedroom or is it low on the priority list like mine?
Since this project was inspired by Pinterest, I wanted to share some more Pinterest inspired projects from my lovely readers!
I love this project from Jodie and Paige at Sypsie Designs. Who hasn’t wanted to try the Sharpie Mug project right? This is the mug from Pinterest that started their creative idea.
They went with a baked sharpie mug because they heard so many “yes it works!” as well as “pinterest fail’s.” You can read about their tips over at Sypsie.com.
Maureen from Let Go of Being Perfect was inspired by this pin to make her own Easter Bunny Plushie!
She has a really detailed tutorial on her blog for you to check out!
Christin at Three Little Pumpkins was inspired by this tutorial to make her own nests.
On her blog she shows you how she made different sizes.
What projects have you completed that are Pinterest Inspired?
Although I may not do exactly what I see on Pinterest most of the time, I do love pinning and getting my creative juices flowing. Be sure to follow me on Pinterest to keep up with what is inspiring me and projects from the blog!
Next week wraps up the Pinterest challenge. Remember the cleaning tips I was going to try? If not, you can check out my Challenge Plan and come back next week to see what worked and what didn’t.
