Stamped Wall Art

 Simple wall art- This was by far the most inexpensive wall art I think I have ever done…because I had most of the supplies on hand.
 I actually created some similar pieces a few years back when we were selling our home and had to get rid of all of our personal photos. I wasn’t about to spend money just to sell our house so I had to get creative and I ended up liking what I created so much, I still have some of them hanging up in our current home. So when I needed some simple living room wall art, I knew just what to do!
{complete 5 minute tutorial ahead}
 I found this stamp in the dollar bin at my local craft store. I needed something long and narrow to fit a frame that I already had, so I just used the middle part of it by brushing the paint onto the stamp instead of actually dipping it in paint the way you would normally use a stamp.
I cut 2 pieces of scrapbook paper that I had on hand in coordinating colors. One would act as my matting so I cut it a bit bigger than the 5×7 cut out of my frame.
For the stamped piece I made a boo-boo. The first time I cut the rectangle and then used my stamp, but it was crooked. So, having learned my lesson, I stamped, let it dry and then cut it so that I could get it centered and straight. I know…I’m a smarty!
Then I mounted my stamped piece onto my background piece of scrapbook paper and it was ready to be framed.
I stuck it into the frame and done!
There are so many other things to spend money on (like some mid century pieces that I have been drooling over) so coming up with projects like this and my jar silhouette art that break up the family photos save money and get me closer to those bigger purchases! Right?
What about you? Do you buy most of your art or do you make it yourself? Or do you not have anything on your walls?
